Being on vacation with so many AA members from all over the world gives me the ability to unite with each one of you on so many different levels as well as gives me the support and strength needed to continue being who I am while remaining sober. I’m excited to be apart of continuing a new adventure in sobriety for so many.

The friendships that I have made at Sober Events are ones that I would have never made if I did not trust myself and attend my first cruise, and for that I will be forever grateful. I got sober in 2007, and I will always remember that first experience. David Miramontes gifted me my first cruise when I was a newcomer, rooming with Don Norman my great grand-sponsor is a memory I will never forget. From that experience in 2009 to years later, I have been granted friendships, experiences, and memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. May we all sail on to higher heights and deeper seas, as we can look forward to sharing many more experiences on Fellow-Ship.

Celebrating life in sobriety has always been important to me! We started this event in the hopes of bringing a vision of hope and joy to our new way of life in recovery. It has since become and remains the most wonderful vacation I have ever experienced! The friends, the fellowship and the camaraderie I feel on these adventures has become an annual infusion of fresh air in my sobriety! At this event, my circle of sober friends and my recovery network has grown incredibly across the country. My now 39 years in this program is completely enhanced and expanded each year at these events due to the experiences and new friendships. This new sober experience will continue on, with even more new bucket list destinations, experiences, and friendships to be seen in the future! We look forward to welcoming you all!!!

About the experience…

Greetings from the Fellow-Ship Crew, Fellow-Ship is a group of Sober and Sober friendly individuals from all across the country, that vacations together. We vary in range from 25 to 85 years of age, and all are either in a 12 Step program, or program adjacent. There are many single travelers and couples alike. The group has grown to include the friends and extended families as well and many people bring their parents, close friends and their adult children along.

For our annual cruises, we book ourselves as a group within the ship’s population on regularly scheduled cruise line itineraries. The pricing listed on our website is the cost per person, per cabin, based on 2 people occupying the cabin. It includes the cruise cost plus all taxes and port fees related to the cruise itself! This year’s event also includes all Gratuities, Premium Beverage Package (including Red Bull), and Wi-Fi for all guests in each cabin.

The cost of airfare to get to the location of the event is in addition to the quoted cruise price. The pre-cruise conference and fellowship is held at a Host Hotel arranged at a discounted rate for Fellow-Ship guests. Fellow-Ship will Host a 2- or 3- day sober gathering prior to the main event. It gives us all a chance to meet new friends and explore our departure destinations. If we are embarking on a Cruise, we recommend arriving at least one day in advance due to the uncertainty of airline travel. If your flight is delayed on the day of the cruise, you risk being left behind. The cost of the hotel is in addition to the Cruise Pricing listed on the website.

As a group we do set up a complete onboard itinerary of meetings and workshops for ourselves that includes 12 Step meetings on board every evening in a reserved conference center for our group. These include speaker meetings with sharing and birthday celebrations. On sea days we do have scheduled workshops and yoga or meditation, usually in the smaller venues onboard. The group dines together in the main dining room each evening. We have a designated section of the dining room and all Fellow-Ship guests dine together. All main dining experiences are included in the cruise pricing. Your breakfast and lunch are at your own leisure, in either the ship’s dining room or the topside buffet, and are also included in your cruise fare. There are specialty restaurants available onboard for an additional fee if you wish to book those. Remember, all of your beverages are included in our Group Pricing! For a bit of whimsy and celebration we do have a couple of theme nights that people like to participate in as well. The themes will be announced by the planning committee and each guest chooses whether they will participate.

Our excursions which are at an extra cost to the guests, are offered only to the guests registered within our group. These are guided tours of the different destinations and are kept exclusive to our sober group. These help to promote fellowship and provide a safe sober environment for all guests. These are sold 1st come 1st serve within only our group. Announcements will be made 3 to 6 months prior to the event for anyone wishing to purchase and participate!

We hope we have answered all your questions and look forward to meeting all who attend the event! Your Fellow-Ship Crew
